They look minty from the listening seat with a few minor blemishes here and there when you get up close to inspect.<\/p>\n<p>I do have the grills for the speakers and they&#8217;re also in fine shape, though not shown in the photographs here.<\/p>\n<p>These speakers sound fantastic on all types of music, the stand-out is the AMT HF\/Mid driver which is beautifully extended and sweet as a pea. Unfortunately, being an expensive speaker system when new ($35K), there aren&#8217;t very many reviews or comments floating around the web on the C40. Perhaps more unfortunate (for a prospective owner who hasn&#8217;t heard them), there are a couple of comments from one deranged individual on Audiogon describing the C40 as &#8216;the worst speakers he&#8217;s heard&#8217;, or words to that effect. He states they&#8217;re &#8216;bright sounding&#8217;. They&#8217;re anything but bright. If you find that thread, be sure to read the whole thing as the guy gets exposed later in the thread as being a bit of a charlatan. It seems he heard these without them having been broken in. Later in the same thread he&#8217;s called out for having raved about the same speaker in a different post!
